We follow Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). As a licensed college, we also follow Alberta's Private Vocational Training Act and its regulations, and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) for marketing messages.

Cookies and tracking on our website

Our website uses cookies and tracking tools from Google Analytics, the Meta Pixel and HubSpot to understand how visitors use the site and to measure our advertising. The Meta Pixel shares information about your visit with Meta (Facebook and Instagram) so we can measure and show our ads. We also use Google reCAPTCHA to block spam on our forms, and a Trustindex widget to show our Google reviews.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, opt out of Google Analytics with Google's opt-out browser add-on, and change your ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram settings. The site still works if you block these cookies.

How we use your information

  1. To answer your questions and send you the program information you asked for.
  2. To contact you about admission, funding options and next steps.
  3. To process your application and enrolment contract.
  4. To deliver your training, arrange your practicum, book certification exams and issue your credential and transcript.
  5. To meet our duties as a licensed private career college, such as keeping student files and reporting graduation and job placement results to the Government of Alberta.
  6. To improve our programs, website and advertising.

Your consent

When you fill in a form or contact us, you agree that we can use your information to reply to you about the program you asked about. We only send marketing emails or texts if you've agreed to receive them, as CASL requires, and every marketing message has an easy way to unsubscribe.

If you enrol, your enrolment contract explains the information Alberta requires us to collect and report. We won't use your information for a new purpose without telling you and, where the law requires it, asking for your consent.

Who we share it with

We never sell your personal information. We share only what each party needs:

  • Certification and training partners (for example CompTIA, Certiport, Pearson VUE, EC-Council and Cisco), to register you for exams and courses.
  • Practicum host employers, to arrange and confirm your placement.
  • Alberta Student Aid and other funders, when you apply for funding.
  • Alberta Advanced Education, which licenses private career colleges. We report student information to the ministry, including enrolment, graduation and job placement results. The ministry collects this information under section 33(c) of Alberta's Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act for monitoring, planning and graduate surveys. After you graduate, we may contact you about your employment, because we must report job placement results.
  • Alberta's student tuition protection fund, once it is in place under the updated Private Vocational Training Act. If you make a claim, we share what the fund needs to process it.
  • Service providers that help us run AEC, such as email, cloud storage, our learning platform, customer-relationship (CRM) and advertising platforms. Anyone who helps us market our programs or recruit students may use your information only to do that work for us, and must protect it.
  • Other government bodies, when the law requires it.

Storage and protection

Only staff who need your information can see it. We use password-protected systems and limit who can open student records.

If a privacy breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will report it to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta and tell you, as PIPA requires.

Service providers outside Canada

Some of our service providers store or process information outside Canada, mainly in the United States. These include our advertising, email, CRM and exam-registration platforms, and AI tools that help our staff draft replies and prepare internal reports. Staff review every reply before it is sent. While your information is outside Canada, it may be accessed by courts or authorities under local law.

You can ask our Privacy Officer for written information about how we use service providers outside Canada, or any question about how they collect, use or store your information.

How long we keep it

  • Inquiries: if you don't enrol, we keep your inquiry for up to 5 years, then delete it.
  • Students: we keep your full student file for 7 years after you finish your program. After that, we keep only your enrolment contract, transcript and credential for 55 years, so we can confirm your credential later.

When we no longer need information, we securely delete or destroy it.

Your rights and choices

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you, how we use it and who we've shared it with
  • correct anything that's wrong
  • stop sending you marketing messages
  • delete your inquiry information if you aren't a student
  • withdraw your consent to how we use your information. We'll explain what that means for your inquiry or enrolment, because the law requires us to keep some student information.

Send your request in writing to our Privacy Officer (details below). We'll reply within 45 days, as PIPA requires, or tell you if we need more time and why. If a fee applies to copies, we'll give you an estimate first.

If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can ask the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta to review it, within 30 days of our reply.
